Coveting

by | Nov 9, 2019 | Vital Life Application Devotions

Exodus 20:17 New International Version (NIV)

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

If you covet, that means you wish to have the possessions of others. This goes past admiring or thinking that you would like to have one of those. Coveting includes envy where you resent that others have what you do not have. Possessions do not make a person happy for long. It is fleeting. Know that God can supply all your needs. True contentment is found in God. If you struggle with coveting, pray to God for help to deal with your resentment, and that he will meet your basic needs.
