Do Not Doubt God

Job 2:6-10 New International Version (NIV)

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.”

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

Satan had to get permission from God to inflict pain on Job. God limits Satan. Why was Job’s wife spared? This may be because her attitude and sorrow would cause even more suffering for Job. We do not know for sure, but she was angry over all they had lost. Do you thing believing in God will spare you from trouble? Do you question God’s goodness and justice when trouble comes. In reading about Job we learn not to give up on God because he allows bad experiences. Faith does not guarantee personal prosperity, as well as, lack of faith does not guarantee problems in life. If this were true, people would believe in God to see what they would get from him. Do not doubt God. That is what Satan wants. Seek God and do not doubt him.
