12 Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace with him. 13 He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood, because he was zealous for the honor of his God and made atonement for the Israelites.”
Phinehas’s act made atonement for the nation of Israel. What he did averted God’s judgement. Because he did this, his descendants would become the high priests of Israel. Doing the right thing can have a lasting impact on you and your descendants. If the truth is at stake, do the right thing. The impact goes beyond your lifetime.
