Men – we’re going off-script with our Vital Men group in Pella tonight. Not gonna engage Louie Giglio’s Week FOUR video tonight because we’re gonna hear the testimony of my friend Travis Boyce. Travis and I did federal prison time together in Yankton, South Dakota. Travis will share how a Gideons Bible in his cell at the Polk County Jail transformed his life. Travis and I have spent the past three weekends together as we’ve engaged with the music at Resound Fest (Bethany, MO), RiseFest (Sheldon, IA) and Fierce Faith Music (Newton). A lot of our conversation these past weeks has centered on the POWER of the Bible.

God’s Word carries transforming power for both our minds and our bodies. Mental suffering deepens when lies, fears or painful experiences shape our inner narrative. Praise God for the truth of this verse from Psalm 107 that testifies to the Bible breaking through darkness and restoring life. Hallelujah that Scripture replaces lies with truth, replaces fear with confidence and replaces despair with hope. It rescues us from emotional “graves” of depression, loneliness, hopelessness and inner turmoil.
Travis’s testimony tonight will affirm these truths.
