5 You, Lord God Almighty,
you who are the God of Israel,
rouse yourself to punish all the nations;
show no mercy to wicked traitors.
6 They return at evening,
snarling like dogs,
and prowl about the city.
7 See what they spew from their mouths—
the words from their lips are sharp as swords,
and they think, “Who can hear us?”
8 But you laugh at them, Lord;
you scoff at all those nations.
9 You are my strength, I watch for you;
you, God, are my fortress,
Foolish people curse God as if he cannot hear or will not respond. Foolish people live as if God cannot see them or will not punish for wrong. God watches patiently until the day when the deeds of these foolish people will rise up and accuse them. We as believers can stand in the Shadow of God and know he is our Protector and Vindicator and Fortress of Strength. When you are a believer, you know better. You feel conviction when you sin. Do not use God’s Name in vain. Do not use Jesus’ Name in vain. If you do, STOP immediately and ask for forgiveness and sin no more. Listen to the Holy Spirit convict you and guide you in doing right. Be careful not to follow the same foolish practices of people who do not know Jesus as their personal Savior, God as their Creator and Father, and the Holy Spirit as their Helper.
