5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
Before entering the Promised Land, the Israelites were to perform a purification ceremony. In God’s law a person could be unclean for many reasons, and God used these outward signs on uncleanness to illustrate a person’s inward uncleanness that comes from sin. The purification ceremony demonstrated the importance of approaching God with a pure heart. Today, we still battle with sin. How do we reconcile with God? Ask for forgiveness for your sin and name it. Then change your behavior and choices. We have God’s forgiveness. We need God’s forgiveness before we approach him.
