Last week I referenced how Blanchard, Hodges and Hendry spend a number of chapters in their book “Lead Like Jesus” talking about the hands of Jesus. They identify the “DOING” habits (obey God, express unconditional love, grace, community, encouragement) of Jesus and elaborate on each of these traits. Today I’ll step into the habit of expressing unconditional love.
Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV): Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Love is a core value of leadership. Like Colossians notes, love pulls together all the other leadership traits. Love recognizes others, supports them, but also provides accountability. A couple questions today for us to process:
When do I demonstrate love in my life?
When do I struggle to show love in my life?
Men – sit with these questions. Give the Holy Spirit space to speak to you. Wrestle with your current reality to recognize opportunities to become more like Jesus.
