Mark 4:39 (NKJV) ‘Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. ‘
Peace, I think, is such a foreign, no… a forgotten concept. As I go about my day to day life, I am shocked at the lack of peace around me. Most are probably thinking I refer to the upheaval within our country at the present time, the conflicts raging at the macro level. I am to a small degree, but would rather focus on peace at the micro level. For it is, I believe, at this level where anxiety, discord, violence and conflict manifests to give rise to the issues we see at the macro level. I see it around me daily. Anxiety, stress, fatigue, and struggle abound. In the individual, I see it in nearly every individual I come in contact with. I see it from nearly every person who has a public platform from which to speak. When nearly every person lives a daily life of hurry, worry, anxiety and angst, society on the macro scale will, without question, be enveloped as well. No peace for the individual, no peace for society.
I hold the believing population, professed believers in Christ, most accountable for the strife we see in society today. As a born again believer in Christ we have access to a knowledge and understanding, provided by the Holy Spirit Himself, to live a life above the conflict, above the noise, a life of peace. Are you? Individually, are you? Do you rest in that understanding? Do you seek His peace that surpasses all understanding? If we as the body of Christ were, I believe it would be very difficult for the world around us as a whole to remain in turmoil. Our example has impact. The choice of the example we present is our own. We choose whether to present an example of a life lived in a peace that confounds the world, but is so intriguing that they cannot resist to know from where it springs. Or, we can choose to allow the stresses of the world around us to envelope us and erase any potential impact our witness could render. So I ask you, today, examine yourself. Ask yourself, do you know the peace that can only be found in Christ, and are you living in it? Have a blessed weekend.
