Deuteronomy 7:25-26 New International Version (NIV)
25 The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God. 26 Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.
Moses warned the Israelites against becoming ensnared by the idols from the defeated nations. Do you think it is alright to be close to sin if you do not participate? Do you tell yourself you will not do anything wrong? Do not fool yourself. Being close to sin can hurt you. There is an attraction that can happen, and with that there may be a giving in. Avoid the snare of sin. Reign in your desires and stay away from sin. Do not put yourself in the wrong place.
