9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”
Potiphar’s wife failed to seduce Joseph, who resisted this temptation by saying it would be a sin against God. What Joseph did not say was that it would hurt Potiphar’s wife, or that it would be a sin against Potiphar. He did not even say that he would be sinning against himself. When there is a lot of pressure, we can make excuses that are rationalized away. He did say it would be a sin against God. Joseph put God first in his life. What are you putting first in your life? Things? People? Activities? Put God first and everything else will fall into place.
