12 Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
David knew his greatness came from God. To be great means keeping a close relationship with God personally. To do this David had to keep his ambition under control. He was famous, successful, and well liked, but he gave God first place. He worked to serve the people according to God’s purposes. Where are you seeking greatness? Are you seeking approval from people or God? Remember to seek God first and to keep your ambition under God’s control. Greatness with God is much better than greatness through the approval of people.
