Judges 13:5
New International Version
5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”
Samson was to be a Nazarite. This person took a vow to be set apart for God’s service, and Samson’s parents made the vow for him. Samson’s vow was for life. Through Samson’s life he accomplished much for God when he was determined to be set apart for God. As long as he kept himself set apart, he thrived. Though, through Samson’s life, he often used poor judgement and sinned terribly. Learn from this. When you remain in God, you may thrive. When you ignore God, you may fall into sin.
