12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
The Israelites had many great difficulties with the Philistines. God rescued them. How would they remember God’s help? They set up a large stone as a memorial of God’s great help and deliverance. Do you need help remembering what God has done for you? When times get bad, do you forget all of God’s help from the past? Write down a list of all the ways God has helped you in your life. Keep adding to this list as you get help from God. This will help you to remember and will give you hope when you feel hopeless. God’s past victories and blessings in your life will help you gain confidence and strength for the present.
