Leviticus 20:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
22 “‘Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. 23 You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.
God gave rules with very good reason. He prohibits actions that bring ruin. God put spiritual laws in place to keep us safe and healthy. He wants to keep us from self-destruction. If you are ever drawn to a forbidden physical or emotional pleasure, remind yourself that the consequences might cause suffering and separation from God. Use God’s help and guidance. He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you. He has plans for a hope and a future for you.
