Leviticus 26:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 “‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.
If the Israelites obeyed, there would be peace in the land. If they disobeyed, disaster would follow. God used sin’s consequences to draw the people to repentance. It was not to get back at them. Today, sin’s consequences are not always so apparent. When something bad happens, it may be a result of your own sin, someone else’s sin, or a natural disaster. Search your heart and be sure you are at peace with God. His Spirit is like a search light. It will reveal the areas you need to deal with. When bad things happen, it is not always the result of wrongdoing. Guard against assigning blame or accepting blame for everything that may happen. Misplaced guild can be a weapon of Satan. Remember, God is for you. Jesus is your friend, and the Holy Spirit is your helper. You are a part of a wonderful family.
