Today

Do you have a ‘to do’ list for today?  Even if its not written down, you likely have a list of things in your mind that you have to, or at least want to get done today.  If you are like me at all, you may get through several things on that list, but never seem to check off everything you would like to do.  You might think that type of thing would create a feeling of futility, or never quite living up to your full potential of what you might be able to do.  Or maybe you only had three things on your list and had them done in under an hour, so either you are super efficient, or you don’t set your goals or expectations very high.  Have you ever asked God what you should put on your To Do checklist?

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24

Some days, it seems like we don’t have time to do what we need to get done, much less the things we would like to do.  Part of the challenge is creating enough margin in a day to be able to accomplish as much of what we should do as we can.  Giving yourself enough time in between activities so you don’t feel rushed or feel you have to speed to get there.  Taking a few minutes to relax and take a deep breath and reflect on the day a little.  Taking the time to ‘stop and smell the roses’ if you happen to pass by something worth stopping for.  Taking a few extra minutes to listen to someone having a rough day and saying a few words of encouragement. Having enough time in your schedule to pray each day and to spend some time in the Word.  Having enough time to stop and offer help if the opportunity presents itself.  Taking time to disconnect from the noise around you and listen to that still small voice to direct your steps.  What will you make time for today?

For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.  2 Corinthians 6:2

Find time today to listen and find time to pray for those who need some extra help, or who cause you to get flustered.  Find time to encourage others who you might not normally talk to .  May you find joy in unexpected places as you make time for others and go throughout your day.

Yours in Christ,

Clark
