9 But David said to Abishai, “Don’t destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed and be guiltless?
David refused to kill Saul. Why?? God had placed Saul in power and had yet to remove him. David chose not to push ahead of God’s timing. David was doing what was right. If he had pushed his kingship through at the wrong time, it would not have worked out as well, and he would have missed out on God’s planned blessings in his kingship. David was going to be king, but it had to be in God’s timing. We have similar situations in our government today. We may have leaders who are not faithful, who are not godly, and who are incompetent. It is so hard not to move against this leadership, but we do not know God’s hidden purposes and timing. When we determine NOT to do wrong, we leave destiny in God’s hands. Do not ignore sin or sit back and allow evil leaders carry out wickedness. Stand up for righteousness and vocalize right from wrong. Work for and carry out right, honest, and godly practices. Do not go against God’s commands and work for righteousness while trusting God in the process.
