The Ten Commandments

5 Moses summoned all Israel and said:

Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them.

Israel had entered into a covenant with God. Moses commanded the people to hear, learn, and obey the regulations. When you become a Christian, you enter into a covenant with God through Jesus Christ. You hear and learn to be responsive to what God expects. You absorb and accept information about God through the Word of God. You learn the meaning and implications of the information that you hear and learn through God’s Word. You need to obey and put into action what you learn and absorb from God’s Word. All three are important as you develop your relationship with God: Listen, Learn, Obey.
