1 Samuel 8:19-20

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”
Samuel had explained the negative consequences to having a king, but the Israelites did not listen. Their minds were made up. When there is an important decision to be made, make sure you look at the positives and the negatives before you make a decision. Remember the people around you will be affected by your decisions. Make sure you have a plan to handle the negatives in a decision so that they will not cause you great difficulty later.
