Spring Tease

Welcome to Iowa where one day you can be in shorts and a tee and the next day; all your winter gear. Pffft! It has been teasing us the last few weeks. I am a summer girl through and through. Living in the South for 21 years felt like truly home in regards to the warm temps most of the year round. I think we had two mild winters in all those years. It was a dream!
Ok, back to reality. Spring has me thinking about all the things I have been wanting to do like getting sprouts going, dreaming of fresh zucchini in my kitchen daily from the garden I work in during summer, catching every last ray night after night until 8pm, and delivering organic produce to locals.

It is simplicity. The “weight” of snow clothes, layers and boots can leave you feeling not only physically heavy but mentally bogged down by things. Can anyone relate? I see those virtual hands.

Spring to me is about the shedding off of dark days and cold and looking forward to lighter, sunnier, connective days with others. Adults and children coming out and amping up those walks, bike rides, raking in the yard and simply sitting out on the deck enjoying a cool beverage. It truly makes me happier. I NEED the sun as soon as I can get into it, and it is SO good for setting our circadian rhythm for good sleep later and keeping our immune system robust.

Allow the sun to make those days easier to get through even if you are battling in some way. The sun and the “son” truly lift us. Let the warmth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ give us joy that passes any heartache and allows us to know He is with us no matter what the days bring. I am so grateful for this blessed hope. I hope you are too!
