Hello! My name is Emily Bergfeld. I am SO excited to begin sharing all the things related to Women’s Health! I met Dana a few weeks ago, and she shared with me all the exciting things happening with Vital Men. Adding a Vital Women’s section is so exciting! Vital Men has been an incredibly successful and blessed program! I look forward to adding value in this way.
I have been passionate about health all my life. I grew up in the best town in Iowa; New Sharon! The memories that flood my mind as I think about all the incredible summers biking to Prairie Knolls Country Club, playing t-ball, swimming in ponds and catching frogs, tether ball, kickball, church activities and sports, sports, sports. It was pretty perfect in my eyes. I think a lot of people would agree with me. I was so grateful to be raised with two incredible, Godly leaders, who later became youth leaders in my teens for over 30 years, two great siblings, an awesome black lab the whole town loved, and the most incredible village at the New Sharon Assembly of God Church. Sports and music have been huge passions all my life. I took to them pretty easily and enjoyed them all. I will always be proud to be a Warhawk!
I was also blessed enough to get to play 1.5 years of college basketball; one year at a junior college on scholarship and the other half walking on as D1 athlete for a strong Tennessee women’s basketball program. Wow! What a challenge! I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN with a degree in Health/Exercise Physiology which lead me into the fitness world. I became a personal trainer and enjoyed training clients for close to ten years in Nashville and surrounding areas. I learned so much from other triathletes, body builders, runners, nutritionists, powerlifters and more. I had definitely found my people!
I loved living in the South for almost 21 years! My parents enjoyed it as well for many years on and off. Our hearts will always love Music City! We made so many amazing friendships with fellow musicians. We all became better singers and musicians being surrounded by so much excellence in Music City! It is truly magical! What a talented place! It will always be a second home to us. The Lord lead my kids and I back to the Midwest with my three little ones to be closer to family. It has been a blessing, but I still hate winter! Lol
Fast forward, I have just finished a certification in Functional Nutrition which took me ten months to complete this past year. It drove my passion for women’s health even stronger than before. There have been so many confirmations along the way. God hears our prayers for the passions we have in our lives. Seeking Him ultimately brings you to a place of peace of knowing the path He has laid out. I feel it in my Spirit very strongly today.
I have learned so much this past year from my own health challenges. My passion became personal for me this year as my Mom was diagnosed with brain cancer this past September. We, as a family, have learned quickly the massive importance of personal and corporate prayer. We have seen God’s healing power in so many ways and the outpouring of love has been overwhelmingly amazing during this whole process. What gift to have the support of a loving church and supportive community during a time of challenge.
Dialing in Mom’s nutrition and overall wellness has been so good to be able to help her in this way. I have been juicing for her to nourish her body more and packing as many whole, healing foods I can to help her body fight well. There have been many days and nights of seeking Him to truly understand this burning desire within my heart. He has been revealing His plan even further this year. It has been miraculous in some ways! I am so grateful! I want every woman to have the knowledge to make the best decisions for her health. There is a lot of confusing information out there. I want to clear some of the muddy waters, so women can be loved and supported in the best way possible!
I have always felt the Hand of God on me from a very young age. I did not always understand it, but I had a very strong, heightened awareness of things around me and a strong sensitivity to the Lord. He has guided my steps on the mountain tops and the in the valleys. I am so grateful for His love and mercy. He has shown himself to me time and time again. He never gave up on me, and He will never give up on you! You may be going through some things you have not shared with anyone, but God sees you and knows your heart. He is not sitting in judgement. He is there with his open arms loving you every step of the way. You are never alone even if some days it feels this way. I cling to this verse when I feel fearful or alone.
Deuteronomy 31:6-
“ So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will never fail you or abandon you.”
I leave you with a preview to my next post. We women have a huge responsibility in the Kingdom. We are the helpmates; but we are also WARRIORS for each other! I challenge you to start thinking about where you see your health going in 2026! Have you been putting yourself on the back burner? Have you poured everything out and have nothing for yourself? Are you running from something the Lord has called you to, but you are not sure how to find your way back? FEAR NOT; I am here to educate, empower and encourage you! The time is now to put your oxygen mask on first so you can pour from a FULL vessel, not an empty one. We will learn together, one step at a time. It will be a partnership. I am a jock for life, but I am here to be your BIGGEST CHEERLEADER for your next steps. You won’t recognize yourself a year from now. Isn’t that exciting to think about? Wooooohooooooo! Let’s do this! Be blessed and stay tuned! Thank you Mike and Dana for this incredible privilege and opportunity. God is always on time!
God is good….all the time!
