When it comes to growing in the Lord we must keep it as simple as possible. Some people find it overwhelming to even know where to begin whether you are a new believer or you have been in church your whole life.
This is what has helped me in my walk with the Lord.
Number 1: Morning gratitude…starting your day with a thankful heart can start you out on the right, positive foot, we have SO much to be grateful for even if we are going through a storm..I find this keeps me out of pity pool and my eyes focused on God and not the negative things going on around me
Hebrews 12:2- Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him and he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Number 2: Reading a proverb or in Psalms in conjunction with the date on the calendar…this is such simple way to create a daily habit and keep our hunger for God growing..it is quiet and gives practical knowledge for the day ahead…you can also read a small devotional…there are so many out there now…Max Lucado has some wonderful ones…I have found so many at The Sanctuary in Pella, Iowa…I love to support local businesses.
Number 3: Spending time with other Christians who can pray with you and encourage you in your journey. No one gets to where they are going by themselves. We truly grow by sharpening one another through connection, vulnerability and transparency.
John 16:32- Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
Start today to develop those morning disciplines in which you can benefit and grow in your daily walk with the Lord. Make a call or send a text to a friend, and schedule a coffee date. You will leave refreshed and encouraged to keep going. We can do this.
Blessings my friends,
Emily
